Epic Streak : The MILLENNIUM attained !!! [1 Aug till 30 Aug 2024]

Unbeknownst to market participants, a sharp, steep drop was just ahead as July gave way to August & maiden winner Sungei Bagan drew first blood with a sale of 100 shares in my Maybank account for $6.34 on the 1st. I sensed the market disquiet even in July as I told everyone who would listen that I would continuously sell while refraining from purchases, as I instinctively sold more YTL Corp & Tenaga at falling prices on the 2nd while disposing of US-listed AT&T purchased in June for up to $19.99 that very night for my 993rd consecutive profitable trading day jointly with the earlier two local stocks & 79 total scalps for the year:

At the same time, an itch to purchase rapidly falling Yamaha Corp, the largest musical instrument maker globally, was scratched with an execution done at ¥2,943, just a tad above its 2006-2007 peak that I was counting on as support. Just a day early & I lost out on an additional 15% gain as the Nikkei index in Tokyo plunged by a historical margin exceeding all the drops going back to the 1990 bubble bursting & even Black Monday, 29 Oct 1987! Meanwhile, #24 Hexza was disposed as a defensive measure that morning at just above $1 to raise cash, reaching 6 rounds & 994 days consecutively. Kuchai followed on the 6th with a tenth round while a duo comprising #7 YTL & #20 Nomura attained 996 in a row as the latter rebounded more than ¥100 from the panic-selling lows of Monday the 5th.

#35 Kim Lun followed up with a 4th round sale at $1.47 on Thursday the 8th while #58 YTL Power energized the streak to 998 days in a row with a sale into a rebound at $4.39 on Friday the 9th. #72 Japan Power Fastening was completely disposed the same day, a little prematurely on hindsight, to wrap up the achievement & the week:

#65 MUI Properties was hived a 6th time on Monday the 12th above 37.5c to reach 999 in a row while YTL Power returned to snatch the MILLENNIUM mark with another rebound sale at $4.46 on August the 13th [which has always been a lucky number for me, together with 8 & 5]. Petronas Dagangan unexpectedly scored as new #80 on the 14th with averaging down purchases from $19.22 to as low as $16.85 were partially hived from $18.54 up to $19.04, and it repeated the win on the next day in tandem with a 6th round sale on Sungei Bagan at just above $6 while itself was pinchingly sold in the odd lot market for $19.24 - $19.48. 2021-purchased #41 BCB was then sold for a trio of rounds on the 16th for just below 50c:

Recently purchased Yamaha then sang in tune with the streak extension on Monday the 19th with an early-in-hindsight disposal for a modest 8% gain, followed by a first-ever win on new #82 Public Bank in tandem with a 15th sale of YTL Corp at $3.46, prescient in hindsight given that it's now below $2 three months later, to attain 1,005 days consecutively! Market operator & winner no.3 Bursa M'sia then took the next relay leg with a somewhat prescient sale at $9.47 after nabbing the latest dividend before handing the baton to #51 Kuchai for an 11th paring & thence to #77 Jasa Kita for a 5th sale at 17.59c on the 23rd to reach 1,008 successive days!

The final week of August opened with a very badly-timed sale of new #83 PBA Holdings, which reported an incredible set of results overnight & promptly soared over $2.60 the next day, which saw #8 Naim re-taking the baton for 22 rounds & running to 1,010 days consecutively. Banking bigwig CIMB's stock had been running like a hare from below $6 in January to above $8 in the interim & was pared after 11 years in the portfolio & became #84. CelcomDIGI then stepped into the breach on the 29th with a partial re-sale of shares bought just above $3.50 for $3.83 for winner #85 while #25 Notion VTec closed the month with a quick 2-day re-sale of shares bought to catch a technical rebound, reaching 1,013 days consecutively!
