Record Marathon : Triumphant End to the 3rd Full Year! [1 Dec till 29 Dec 2023]
Katsuragawa Electric became the first Japanese winner to repeat thrice with the smallest % gain at just 25.7% after a 35.5% & 53.4% return in 2017 & 2022 respectively. The ordinary rights of Advanced Info Marketing became the 120th scalp on Monday 4th Dec before handing the perpetuation of the run over to a 14th round on #67 YTL Corp on the 5th:
PAOS finally exited the portfolio in a 9th sale on the 6th & then handed the baton to Japan's First Baking for a 77% gain in 3 months on the 7th. #81 CB Industrial, which was first sold at $1.11 in July, got hived again at $1.28 on 8 Dec to reach 830 days in a row:
YTL Corp again took charge for a 15th time on Monday 11 Dec. Tuesday saw free warrants of Salcon sold for the 122nd scalp, then bounced the baton back to YTL for a 16th round on the 13th. #111 PBA then came back onstage for a small disposal at $1.30 [ still too early in hindsight] & passed the reins to #87 TAS Offshore for a 5th sale at 38.5c to conclude the week on 15th Dec.
Hextar Healthcare, formerly Rubberex, became the new #123 the following Monday 18th Dec and then on to Tokyo, where Chuo Built was the subject of a takeover by Asahi Kasei & disposed at exactly the takeover price of ¥750 for a 32% return in 3 months, somewhat mimicking the previous Japanese winner's timeframe before passing the marathon baton back to YTL Corp for a 16th sale at $1.93, Thursday then seeing a 2nd round on #26 CWG on the 21st with a small gain in 2 months on shares bought for the tiny dividend, before the week was rounded up by new #125 Golden Pharos with a 7% gain inside of a year:
The Christmas weekend was a somber occasion as my elder brother passed away from pancreatic cancer on the morning of the 25th but the marathon endured with a 17th sale of #67 YTL at $1.89 on Tuesday 26 Dec. A rare Japanese duo of the biggest broker Nomura Holdings & Nippon Paint then corralled the next link in the chain as winners #126 & #127 respectively on the 27th, with YTL taking back the reins with an 18th disposal on the 28th bagging 843 days consecutively before JCB Next took up the honours of being the 128th & final winner of 2023, completing a circuit of 3 FULL YEARS in the ongoing record run!
Not even the more fruitful 2nd longest run from Jan 10 '17 till Nov 28 '18 could span an entire year & the cherry on the top was the most fruitful year ever, to date, in Japan after only 78 months there as a relative amateur, earning over $600,000 on a record 23 stocks, far outstripping the previous [tied] total of nine in '21 & '22!
